Kinokuniya is a Japan based bookstore which was founded in 1927. Since the time the Kinokuniya Company opened its first store in Shinjuku, Tokyo, the bookstore quickly grew into an international chain store. Now there are 29 Kinokuniya bookstores outside of Japan, one of which is located in New York City.

The New York City based Kinokuniya bookstore offers much with its three floors worth of materials. On the first floor, numerous varieties of Japanese books, magazines, and stationary are offered to satisfy those who are looking to purchase Japanese items. On the second floor, English books are available for purchase.

On the third floor, more varieties of manga books in both English and Japanese than you can imagine are available, along with manga merchandise. A Japanese foods cafe is also on the third floor, where customers can relax and read while snacking on delicious Japanese food.
