The High Museum of Art is considered the #1 art museum in Southeastern America. It can be thought of as a southern Metropolitan Museum of Art. The museum features over 14,000 works, including American art, African art, folk art, as well as photographs of key historical moments and figures. Special past exhibits include the works of Salvador Dali, as well as “From Picasso to Warhol”, which featured 100 key works from artists between these two artists and their time periods (one of the biggest exhibits ever in the Southern U.S.). Current exhibits include the works of Neliie Mae Rowe, and a celebration of new entries into the African art exhibit. Art history buffs, or anyone looking for the unique learning experience of a lifetime should definitely visit the High.
