“Boza” is a fermented drink made with semolina, water and sugar, traditionally topped with roasted chickpeas and a sprinkling of cinnamon. It’s one of the oldest drinks in Turkey, dating back to the 4th century. It’s only consumed during the winter months.View galleryWhy you should visit it
This historical boza shop was established way back in 1876. The boza served here is thicker and tarter than traditional versions, and is now made by the great-great-grandchildren of the original owners.
Special tip
In winter they also serve “sahlep” – a popular hot beverage of pulverised orchid rood, milk and sugar.
