Eiheiji Temple, located in Fukui-ken, was founded over 800 years ago. The location is just extraordinary. It is deep in the mountains and tall trees surround it. Eijeiji is still an active temple and you can actually see the monks walking around and there are some places of the temple, which are not accessible to visitors. The temple was rebuilt a number of times over the years.
