The Blue Pond is an artificial pond, which was created when the dam was constructed to protect the region from potential mudflows from Mt. Tokachi. Water blocked by the dam is now creating the Blue Pond. The bright blue color is attributed to the presence of aluminum hydroxide in the water, but it has not been fully explained. The mysterious beauty has been catching people’s eyes.
