About

The Western Wall, close to the holiest site in Judaism, is one of the few remnants of the ancient Jewish Temples that once stood there. Over the millenia, it has been a source of inspiration to Jews around the world as a place to turn to in prayer. Indeed, today it consists of a large plaza for praying (with separate areas for men and women). Visitors from all over the world place “petakim”, notes with requests directed to G-d, in the cracks of the ancient wall.
There are also several tours located near and under the Wall area.
Notes:
-Although a Jewish site, people of all faiths are welcome to visit and pray (and they do!)
-As a place of worship, visitors are expected to dress in a modest attire appropriate to the Wall’s holiness. Appropriate clothing involves skirt/trousers/sleeves for women and men (if a women is not appropriately dressed, wraps are available for them). Men are also expected to wear a head-covering.
-An Email to them can be sent from here: http://english.thekotel.org/contactus.asp
