Takeshita Street is a 350-meter pedestrian shopping lane in Jingumae, Shibuya, beginning directly across from the Takeshita Exit of JR Harajuku Station. Its compact storefronts and constantly changing displays make it one of Harajuku’s best-known introductions to Tokyo youth culture, with the street acting as both a shopping destination and a lively place to observe current styles.

The lane is lined with small fashion boutiques, accessory and cosmetics shops, character goods, and casual snack counters. Visitors come for affordable trend pieces as well as classic Harajuku treats such as crepes and colorful sweets. Purikura photo booths add another distinctly Japanese stop, letting friends customize and print portraits during a walk through the district.

There is no admission charge, and the street itself is open daily, although each shop keeps its own hours and closing schedule. Harajuku Station is the simplest access point, while Meiji-jingumae Station on the Chiyoda and Fukutoshin subway lines is also within walking distance. Takeshita Street can become very crowded, so allow extra time to move between shops and explore the quieter side streets nearby.
