A-kon is an anime convention that comes by every year around June for three days. Now three days may not seem like a whole lot, but you’d be surprised by all the things you can do during that time. You can visit the artists’ gallery where all kinds of artists gather to sell their artwork, either fan made or their own. The dealer’s room holds a wide selection of things from stuffed animals to pocky to t-shirts and posters. That’s just the tip of the iceberg, and other than that you can join panels and learn about different things whether you’re interested in writing stories to creating your own game. There’s a little bit of something for everyone that comes.
Registration is easy, they let you know ahead of time when you’re able to pre register for the event. The price starts at thirty dollars and every few months the price gets higher the closer the day of the convention is. They send out emails to those wanting to stay at a nearby hotel and give discounts to those who do. But be quick about it! Once it hits February or March it’ll be a lot harder finding a hotel that’s within walking distance of the convention.
