Causey Reservoir

Causey Reservoir is located in Huntsville, Utah. It is about 20 minutes past Pineview Reservoir, depending on which area you go to. It forks off in different directions and where they all intersect, there is a small outcropping of cliffs which are very popular. People drive up to the “lookout point,” hike down the side of the “mountain,” and jump off the small cliffs. They then swim to the other side where the bigger cliffs are, and that is where most of the jumping is done. It’s also a great place to paddle board, canoe, and kayak.
There’s also a trail that goes along the water. It’s pretty unshaded at the beginning, but that quickly changed the further we walked as it went under the trees. When we got to the point where we could see the jumping cliffs, it did get a bit more strenuous, but we had decided to turn around at that point anyway. Next time, I’ll have better strapped sandals, or heaven forbid, maybe even tennis shoes–it is a bit dusty.
Also, it’s not a great place for lounging. There aren’t really banks there, just huge slopes of earth. This makes it pretty difficult to set up chairs, but I expect blankets might do okay. There are also bathrooms by the parking area.
One thing that’s important to remember: Life-jackets–though not enforced–are required. There are signs everywhere that say so. Also because many people die from drowning by jumping off of the cliffs without them.
The cliffs can range anywhere from 20-70 feet, depending on where you are.
