The Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding was established in March of 1987. It has become a home of the giant pandas as researchers are currently trying to rescue the giant panda population. Aside from being a research base, it has also become a popular tourist spot for locals and foreigners. Visitors can not only learn more about giant pandas, but they can go to various parts of the base (also a park) and see the giant pandas themselves in a natural environment. Experts are also there to guide visitors and teach them how to protect the pandas. There are also many other endangered wildlife at the park, such as red pandas, swans, peacocks, etc. In addition, there is also a gift shop filled with many panda goodies.
