Giant’s Causeway

Be the first to review

Giant’s Causeway is an area of about 40,000 interlocking basalt columns, the result of an ancient volcanic eruption. It is located in County Antrium on the Northeast coast of Northern Ireland. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986 and it is considered the 4th greatest natural wonder of the UK courtesy of Radio Times. It’s unique because of it’s many overlapping hexagonal columns that act as stepping stones along the ocean’s shoreline. When you visit here on a clear day you can also see the southern tip of Scotland in the distance some 13 miles away. There are many opportunities for hiking and exploring as well as museum where you can learn about the legend surrounding the site.
