The main food square of Marrakech, the Jamaa el-Fnaa, is the place to go for food and juice stands, cafes and entertainers of all kinds. During the day the square is mostly juice stands (where they squeeze the oranges right in front of you for less than half a euro each) and the cafes that surround the square. Many of the cafes also have upper terraces with a bird’s eye view of the square where you can escape the sun for a while. During the evening, small restaurants pop up and fill the rest of the area, along with dessert trolleys, salesmen, men with trained monkeys and snakes and various other people. The atmosphere is always lively, and there’s always something to do or to eat.
