About

Marugame Udon opened its Waikiki location at 2310 Kuhio Ave in 2014 as the Toridoll Corporation’s first United States outpost of the Japanese udon chain, originally branded locally as Marukame Udon before the sign was updated to match the company’s other U.S. stores. The restaurant introduced Honolulu to the Sanuki-style tradition of hand-stretched, made-to-order udon noodles, and its open theater kitchen remains a signature feature, letting guests watch cooks knead and cut the dough just steps from the order counter.

The counter-service menu centers on customizable udon bowls, from classic kake and niku (beef) udon to curry and ontama varieties, alongside a hot case of tempura, inari, and musubi that diners pick up cafeteria-style before paying by the item. Both the miso and tan tan udon are prepared vegan, and portions are offered in regular and large sizes so guests can build a meal that fits their appetite and budget.

The Waikiki shop sits inside the Waikiki Beach Walk retail corridor and is open daily from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., making it a reliable stop for a quick, affordable meal before or after a day at the beach. Online ordering for pickup is available through the restaurant’s website, and the location continues to draw long lines of locals and visitors alike for noodles made fresh throughout the day.
