Nishinomiya Shrine is famous for its New Year’s event of the “Lucky Men Race” in which a group of local men gather at the main gate in the morning of January 10th and run their fastest towards the main hall. The race is only one attraction of the festival Touka Ebisu. The shrine honors the deity Amaterasu, Ebisu, and Susanou. Hundreds gather at this shrine for the New Year and in other special occassions. It is a widely recognized shrine and the Hyogo Prefecture collaborates to preserve the shrine for years to come. It is a place not only for prayers and peaceful walks but also for weddings which the main hall is in charge of.
