A man-made forest of cedar trees located in the Wichita Mountains, the Parallel Forest is a piece of history to behold. Urban legend states that this forest was planted as a means of counteracting the destruction of the Dust Bowl. Regardless, it offers a humble atmosphere that only nature in the country can provide. However, it is not a place to tread during the evening because of laws in place which prevent people from parking on the wildlife refuge at night. Other than that, a brisk walk through the Parallel Forest while the sun shines can be thoroughly enjoyed.
