The first Suzuya was opened in 1954 and they now have 8 branch stores in Japan. Toncya is their speciality and is made by pouring Japanese green tea over cooked rice.

Toppings like cooked vegetables, nori, sesame seeds, salmon, wasabi, etc. are added on the top. The toncya in Suzuya is served with tonkatsu. The correct way to eat toncya is written on their menus. Menus in different languages are available (Japanese, English, Chinese).

Other than tonkatsu and toncya, they also serve tonkatsu teishoku, seafood teishoku and curry.
