Takeshita-dori (Takeshita Street) is located in Harajuku, and is one of the most famous shopping destinations in Japan. The pedestrian-only street is completely packed with shoppers popping in and out of stylish and unique clothing stores. Come here to experience the best and most extreme of Japan’s teen fashion industry, and all kinds of great buffets and restaurants. There is a wonderful thrift store on one of Takeshita-Dori’s side streets called San Kyuu (390), where every item in the store is only 390 yen! Also located here is the candy shop where Avril Lavigne shot her famous music video, “Hello Kitty.” This place is fast-paced and very high-energy. Make sure you set aside the whole day (and some extra cash for shopping) to explore this incredible area of Harajuku!
