A local event completely run by neighborhood volunteers, the Christmas light displays in the Thoroughbred neighborhood are some of the most elaborate across the country. Each family decorates their house in time for December, and keeps these decorations on nightly until a few weeks after New Year’s. The colorful lights create a beautiful atmosphere to either walk or drive through — a memorable experience for visitors of all ages.
Individual families operate concession stands, so there are refreshments for visitors to buy throughout the neighborhood. Parking and traffic are a problem during peak hours because of the neighborhood’s popularity, so it’s always best to arrive early. The residents are also very friendly and helpful, and will happily answer questions.
