The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) is so much more than just an art gallery. The building itself is also a work of art; extremely modern and lit by natural light by its many glass windows. The museum houses collections from all over the world and all throughout history, making it not only exciting for art buffs, but also for those who love history. Alongside more modern works of the art, the VMFA has collections devoted to pieces from the ancient Greeks such as vases and weapons, and even an entire section featuring ancient Egyptian artifacts and even a sarcophagus. For the more artsy people there is of course more traditional wings housing paintings and statues.
While the base entrance to the VMFA is free, the museum also features different exhibitions that change on a regular basis that require a paid ticket.
