Xianju County is not one of the more well-known spots for traveling in China, which makes it like a secret treasure. The clear blue skies and crisp air are rejuvenating, particularly if you’ve been in other areas of China with heavy smog. It’s mostly a tourist town and outside of hiking there isn’t much to do, but there really shouldn’t be – hiking in Xianju is plenty enough within itself! The splendor of Xianju definitely makes it China’s equivalent of The Grand Canyon. You can take a ride up the mountain, but I recommend hiking. It can be a little intense, but when you reach the top, it makes the view even more worth the trek. There are bridges connecting the mountain tops and resting areas with a few food stalls. There a bunch of pathways that lead to platforms along the mountain cliffs where you can get a chance to see the view from different spots.
