Actually, Qiao’s Family Compound’s construction was started in Qianlong Emperor Qing Dynasty and was cost almost two centuries to complete. It was owned by a widely known financier Qiao Zhiyong. He and many of his generations lived there for many years. Now it is a public attraction, which includes several museums keeping and showing the initial interior design, funutire arrangement, and traditional local customs. It is a good place to realize traditional Chinese architecture and how rich family’s daily life was in the old China.

The Tiger Leaping Gorge is located in the Southwestern Chinese province of Yunnan, and it is undeniably the greatest attraction Yunnan has to offer. At the cost of some exercise and a one-time purchase open ended ticket, you will be rewarded with some of the most breathtaking nature and scenery on planet Earth. Upon entering the gorge, you will have the option of two trails: the high trail and the low trail.

The high trail is definitely the better of the two, because the view at high altitude is an experience you will never forget. The path leads you in-between the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and the Haba Snow Mountain, and looking below you will see the beautiful and peaceful Jinsha River. Along the way, you will encounter quiet villages, luscious greenery, unique restaurants, numerous lodges, and the local Naxi people.

This is a travel destination everyone should visit at least once in their life; do so, and I promise Mother Nature will not let you down. Fun Fact: Legend says a tiger once leaped from one side of the gorge to the other to escape a hunter chasing it, thus the gorge was given the name: Tiger Leaping Gorge.

When the Jin Dynasty emperor Wányán Liàng (February 24, 1122 – December 15, 1161 CE) moved his capital to the Beijing area, he had a Wang hill Palace built on the site of the hill. In the Yuan Dynasty, the hill was renamed from Wang hillto Jug Hill (Weng Shan). The Qianlong Emperor (r. 1735-1796) of the Qing Dynasty (1644–1911), who commissioned work on the imperial gardens on the hill in 1749, gave Longevity Hill its present-day name in 1752, in celebration of the 60th birthday of his mother,Empress Dowager Chongqing.

The palace complex has suffered two major destructive attacks. First by the British and French during the Anglo-French allied invasion of 1860 (with the Old Summer Palace also ransacked at the same time), and second during the Boxer Rebellion, in an attack by the eight allied powers in 1900. The garden was torched and mostly destroyed. Most of the artifacts within were split among the eight allied nations.

The Palace has been under restoration since its destruction. The main obstacle of the restoration is the lack of original blueprints. In 1888, it was given the current name, Yihe Yuan. It served as a summer resort for Empress Dowager Cixi.

Tiananmen Square is a large gathering place in the middle of Beijing where several different sightseeing buildings are located. It is named after the Tiananmen gate (Gate of Heavenly Peace) located to its North, separating it from the Forbidden City.

Tiananmen Square is the fourth largest city square in the world. It has great cultural significance as it was the site of several important events in Chinese history. Outside China, the square is best known in recent memory as the focal point of the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989, a pro-democracy movement which ended on 4 June 1989 with the declaration of martial law in Beijing by the government and the shooting of several hundred or possibly thousands of civilians by soldiers.

Located as a cultural center of Beijing, it is also one of the best places to catch public transportation and is a major subway line stop.

Erected in 1380 during the early Ming Dynasty, it stands towering above the city center and offers incredible view of Xi’an.

The Drum Tower got its name from the huge drum located within the building. In contrast to the Bell Tower, where bell was stricken at dawn, drum was beat at sunset to indicate the end of the day.

Inside the Drum Tower there is also a drum museum, where a variety of drums are on display, some of which can be dated back thousands of years. There is a drum show performed here every day. The top of the tower commands a panoramic view of the city.

Like most of the Summer Palace, the Long Corridor was severely damaged by fire which Anglo-French allied forces laid in 1860 during the Second Opium War. It was rebuilt in 1886. It is famous for its length (728 m) in conjunction with its rich painted decoration (more than 14,000 paintings).

Definitely worth a visit!

It has become a home of the giant pandas as researchers are currently trying to rescue the giant panda population. Aside from being a research base, it has also become a popular tourist spot for locals and foreigners. Visitors can not only learn more about giant pandas, but they can go to various parts of the base (also a park) and see the giant pandas themselves in a natural environment. Experts are also there to guide visitors and teach them how to protect the pandas. There are also many other endangered wildlife at the park, such as red pandas, swans, peacocks, etc. In addition, there is also a gift shop filled with many panda goodies.
